Korea wave strikes Indonesian not only in the shape of Korean drama, K-pop, K-food an café, fashion, life style, buat also art performances. And for the first time, Korean art performance group The Painters is present in Jakarta and give Indonesian audiences a different type and nuances of Korea modern art performance.
The Painters is a nonverbal art performances that stages a live-drawing skill with variety of drawing techniques combined with witty blend of mime, dance and comedy. The Painters consists of 4 team; The Jackson, The Chaplin, The Superman and The Beethoven. It’s The Chaplin Team that came to Jakarta and providing the show “The Painters: Hero” in Korea-Indonesia Festival 2014 event and PayDay Event held by Lotte Shopping Avenue.
In Korea-Indonesia Festival The Painters Hero showed their full performances that hightlight Action Painting ‘jump!shake!spray!, Dust Drawing, Speed Drawing and Light Drawing-drawing with lights. But in Pay Day Event they just showed three performances, light drawing excluded.
After watching the show , I have to admit that The Painters: Hero is an innovative and creative modern art performance I’ve ever seen. Four members of The Chaplin Team; So Kwang Min, Kang Shin Koo, Kwon Woo Ram and Hong Bo Ram show their amazing skill in drawing and share the joy, awesome-inspiring journey in creating works of art with the audience. In short, the four Painters Hero successfully bring art and joy on stage right before my eyes.
I wish it’s not only Indonesian Korea lovers seeing the show, but also Indonesian people who get involved in art and in show business in my country so that they can learn from Korea to create an anti-mainstream art performances such as The Painters: Hero.
As a whole, I really enjoying The Painters: Hero that inspiring many people here to see Korea in a different point of view, from the side of creativity and the wealth of performing arts. I hope I’ll see another The Painters Team after The Chaplin. We wait you here again, in Jakarta.
